METHOD 1Check Firewall + Add Sage Update URLsPrimary fix
1Add Sage's update domains to your firewall allowlist: *.sage.com and *.sagepayroll.co.uk on port 443. Temporarily disable firewall and gt; retry the update in Sage 50 Payroll and gt; if it succeeds: the firewall was blocking it -- configure the allowlist and re-enable.
2Check Sage Update Service: services.msc and gt; find "Sage 50 Accounts Update Service" and gt; confirm it is Running and set to Automatic. Restart it and gt; retry the payroll update.
METHOD 2Download Manual Payroll UpdateFirewall cannot be changed or update server down
1Log into your Sage account at sage.com and gt; navigate to Downloads and gt; find the payroll tax table update for your Sage 50 version and gt; download and gt; run as Administrator. The manual update installs the same tax tables without requiring the Sage Update Service or network connection from within Sage.
METHOD 3Upgrade Sage 50 VersionVersion no longer receives payroll updates
1Sage 50 payroll tax table updates are only available for versions within the current support window (typically last 3 years). If your version is out of support: Sage will no longer provide payroll updates for it. Log into sage.com and gt; check your subscription and gt; upgrade to a supported version.
