How to Fix QuickBooks Banking Error 319
QuickBooks displays: "Banking Error 319: There's a communication problem with your financial institution. Try again later."
Banking Error 319 is a connection timeout between QB and the bank's server — QB sent a request to the bank's data feed but received no response within the expected window. At QuickFix Bookkeeping, 319 is distinct from 355 (bad data received) and 107 (unrecognised response): 319 means no response arrived at all — the bank's server timed out, the aggregation service couldn't reach the bank, or a network issue prevented the connection from completing.
Error 319 vs 355 vs 107 — The Timeout / Bad Data / Unknown Response Distinction
Error 319 — this page
No response received — timeout. Bank server didn't reply within the time window. Usually temporary. Fix: wait and retry. Persistent: disconnect + reconnect.
Error 355
Response received but data was corrupted or in an unreadable format. Something was returned but QB couldn't parse it. Often a bank format change.
Error 107
Response received but contained an error code QB doesn't recognise. Bank returned something, just not what QB expected.
What Causes QuickBooks Banking Error 319?
Bank Server Temporarily Overloaded
Most common 319 cause — the bank's data feed server is under heavy load (often at month-end, during bank maintenance, or during high-traffic periods) and can't respond within QB's timeout window. This is entirely on the bank's side. Waiting 30–60 minutes and retrying resolves most 319 errors.
Intuit Aggregation Service Outage
Intuit's bank aggregation service (the intermediary that pulls data from banks on QB's behalf) is experiencing issues reaching the specific bank. Check status.intuit.com — if banking feeds show an active issue, the error resolves when the service is restored.
Internet Connection Too Slow / Packet Loss
A slow or intermittent connection causes QB's request to time out before the bank's server can respond. Banking feed requests have shorter timeouts than regular web browsing — a connection that seems "fine" for browsing can still time out for QB feed requests. Switch to wired connection and retry.
Proxy Server Adding Latency
A proxy server in the path adds enough latency that QB's banking request times out before reaching the bank's server. Adding *.intuit.com to the proxy bypass list so QB connects directly reduces the latency and resolves 319.
Stale Bank Connection in QB
The bank connection data stored in QB has become stale — the cached server information no longer matches the bank's current endpoints. Disconnecting and reconnecting the bank feed refreshes all connection data and typically clears persistent 319.
Bank Undergoing Maintenance
Scheduled bank maintenance takes the feed server offline temporarily. 319 appears during the window. The error self-resolves after maintenance — check the bank's website or status page for maintenance schedules.
