How to Fix QuickBooks TLS Error
QuickBooks displays a TLS error when connecting to Intuit services -- payroll updates, bank feeds, or QB account login -- typically stating "There is a problem with the security of your connection" or referencing SSL/TLS.
QuickBooks requires TLS 1.2 for all secure connections to Intuit servers. At QuickFix Bookkeeping, TLS errors appear when Windows or Internet Explorer's security settings have TLS 1.2 disabled, the Windows certificate store is outdated, or an older QB version is trying to use a deprecated protocol. Intuit retired TLS 1.0 and 1.1 -- TLS 1.2 must be enabled for QB to function.
TLS 1.2 Requirement -- Quick Check
Verify TLS 1.2 is enabled in 30 seconds: press Win+R and gt; type inetcpl.cpl and gt; Advanced tab and gt; scroll to Security section and gt; confirm "Use TLS 1.2" is checked. If it is not checked: check it and gt; OK and gt; retry QB. This single setting resolves the majority of TLS errors in QuickBooks.
