How to Fix QuickBooks Error 2000
QuickBooks displays: "Error 2000: There is a problem with your account. Contact Intuit Technical Support." — typically when processing payroll or using QuickBooks Online services.
Error 2000 is an Intuit account or payroll service authentication failure. At QuickFix Bookkeeping, 2000 means Intuit's servers recognised QB's connection but rejected the payroll service request — usually because of an expired Direct Deposit PIN, a payroll subscription issue, or a mismatch between the bank account on file and the payroll service account. The fix is always account-level, not installation-level.
Error 2000 — Three Account-Level Causes to Check
Expired Direct Deposit PIN
Intuit's direct deposit PIN expires periodically. Reset it at payroll.intuit.com → Payroll → Settings → Direct Deposit → Reset PIN.
Payroll subscription issue
Subscription lapsed, billing failed, or the payroll service key needs refresh. Check payroll.intuit.com and re-enter service key in QB.
Bank account mismatch
The bank account on file with Intuit for payroll disbursement changed or was closed. Update bank details at payroll.intuit.com.
