How to Fix QuickBooks Bank Not Found Error

When setting up a bank feed in QuickBooks, the search for your bank returns no results or "Bank not found" -- the bank is not listed in QB's supported institutions.

At QuickFix Bookkeeping, this happens when the bank uses a different name in QB's database (searching "First National" when it's listed as "1st National Bank"), the bank is genuinely not supported by Intuit, or the QB version is outdated and the bank was added after the last update.

How to Fix QuickBooks Bank Not Found

METHOD 1Try Multiple Search Terms + Update QBBank listed under different name
1

Try searching by: the bank's full legal name, abbreviation, parent bank name, or just the city. Example: "Chase" instead of "JPMorgan Chase Bank". Also try searching by the bank's website domain (e.g., "wellsfargo" not "Wells Fargo Bank NA").

2

Update QB: Help and gt; Update QuickBooks and gt; Reset Update and gt; Get Updates and gt; restart. New banks are added to QB's institution list with each update -- if your bank was recently added, updating reveals it.

METHOD 2Check Intuit's Financial Institution ListConfirm if bank is supported
1

Search Intuit's community or support site for your bank name plus "QuickBooks bank feed" to confirm if it is supported and what name it appears under. If confirmed unsupported: contact Intuit to request the bank be added, or proceed with manual .QBO import as the permanent solution.

METHOD 3Set Up Manual .QBO Import WorkflowBank genuinely not supported
1

Log into bank online and gt; download transactions as .QBO (QuickBooks Web Connect format) -- most banks offer this even without official QB support and gt; QB and gt; Banking and gt; File Upload and gt; import the .QBO file. Set up a recurring weekly or monthly download reminder to keep transactions flowing consistently.
