How to Fix QuickBooks Accountant Copy Errors

QuickBooks cannot create an Accountant's Copy, the .QBX file fails to import, or QB displays "Accountant's changes could not be imported".

At QuickFix Bookkeeping, Accountant's Copy errors occur when an existing Accountant's Copy restriction is still active (only one can exist at a time), the dividing date conflicts with posted transactions, or the .QBY import file was created from a different company file than the one being imported into.

How to Fix QuickBooks Accountant Copy Errors

METHOD 1Remove Existing Accountant's Copy RestrictionCannot create new copy -- existing one active
1

File and gt; Send Company File and gt; Accountant's Copy and gt; Client Activities and gt; Remove Restrictions. Confirm you want to remove the restriction. QB can only have one Accountant's Copy active at a time -- removing the old restriction allows a new one to be created.

2

Note: removing restrictions without importing the accountant's changes discards any changes the accountant made. Only remove the restriction if you have confirmed with your accountant that no changes need to be imported, or if the accountant's copy was created in error.

METHOD 2Fix Import Errors When Applying Accountant's Changes.QBY file not importing
1

Confirm you are importing the .QBY file into the exact same company file (.QBW) used to create the original .QBX. File and gt; Send Company File and gt; Accountant's Copy and gt; Client Activities and gt; Import Accountant's Changes and gt; browse to the .QBY file. If the import fails with a version mismatch: both the client and accountant must be on the same QB version.

METHOD 3Send via Accountant's Copy File Transfer ServiceFile too large to email
1

File and gt; Send Company File and gt; Accountant's Copy and gt; Send to Accountant. Enter the accountant's email and a password and gt; QB uploads the .QBX to Intuit's secure server. The accountant receives a download link. This avoids email attachment size limits and is the most reliable transfer method.
