How to Fix NetSuite SuiteCommerce Error
Products are not showing on the storefront, orders are not flowing into NetSuite, prices are wrong on the site, or a deployment has broken the front end.
At QuickFix Bookkeeping, the first question is always is it a data problem or a deployment problem? A missing product is almost never a bug. It is an item that was never made available to the website, or a cache that has not been rebuilt. Deployment faults look dramatic but are rarer.
What Causes This
Item not web-enabled
The item is not marked Display in Web Site, or is not assigned to the website and its subsidiary.
Cache not invalidated
Changes are saved in NetSuite but the storefront still serves the old cached version.
Price level missing
The item has no price on the price level the website uses, so it shows wrong or not at all.
Failed deployment
A theme or extension deployment failed partway, leaving the front end broken.
How to Fix It
METHOD 1Product Is Missing From the StorefrontMost common by far
1Open the item record and go to the Web Store tab. Confirm Display in Web Site is ticked. This alone accounts for most missing products.
2Confirm the item is assigned to the correct website and to the subsidiary that site belongs to. In a multi-subsidiary account, an item not shared with the site's subsidiary is invisible regardless of every other setting.
3Check the item has a price on the price level the website is configured to use. An item with no price on that level will not display.
4Check Out of Stock Behaviour. If it is set to hide out-of-stock items and the quantity is zero, the item disappears from the site while looking perfectly fine in NetSuite.
METHOD 2Changes Saved but Not ShowingCache
1SuiteCommerce caches aggressively for performance. A change saved in NetSuite may not appear on the storefront immediately.
2Invalidate the cache for the affected records, then hard-refresh the storefront in your browser. Test in an incognito window to rule out your own browser cache confusing the picture.
3If a change still does not appear after the cache clears, it is not a cache problem. Go back to Method 1.
METHOD 3Orders Not Reaching NetSuiteIntegration break
1Check the Script Execution Log for errors at the time the order was placed. A User Event script failing on the sales order will silently block the order from saving.
2Confirm the customer record was created successfully. A failure on customer creation stops the order that depends on it.
3Governance limits are a frequent cause under load: an order-processing script that works fine at ten orders an hour fails at two hundred. See our SuiteScript error guide.
METHOD 4A Deployment Broke the SiteFront end is visibly wrong
1Never deploy directly to production. Deploy to a sandbox or a non-production site first, verify, then promote.
2If a deployment has already broken the live site, roll back to the previous known-good version rather than trying to patch forward under pressure. Then investigate the failure in sandbox.
Check the Data Before You Blame the Code
Nine times out of ten, a SuiteCommerce problem reported as a bug is an item configuration issue: not web-enabled, wrong subsidiary, no price on the site's price level, or hidden by out-of-stock behaviour. Work through the item record completely before anyone touches a theme file or opens a support case.
