Wave Payroll Error ยท Direct Deposit Failed

How to Fix Wave Payroll Errors

Wave Payroll fails to process -- direct deposits don't reach employees, payroll shows as failed, or Wave displays a funding or bank account error.

At QuickFix Bookkeeping, Wave Payroll errors trace to three causes: insufficient funds in the business bank account on the payroll debit date, bank account verification failed (Wave requires micro-deposit verification), or employee bank details incorrect. Wave processes payroll 4 business days before the pay date -- the debit must succeed on that date.

How to Fix Wave Payroll Errors

METHOD 1Check Funding Bank Account + Verify Employee DetailsPrimary fix
1

Confirm funds available: log into your bank and confirm the account has sufficient funds to cover the full payroll amount 4 business days before pay date. Wave debits the account on that day -- if funds are insufficient the payroll fails and employees are not paid.

2

Verify employee bank details: Payroll and gt; Employees and gt; select each employee and gt; Banking and gt; confirm routing number and account number are correct. An incorrect routing number causes the direct deposit to fail silently.

METHOD 2Complete Bank Account VerificationBusiness bank account not verified
1

Wave verifies business bank accounts via two micro-deposits (small amounts under $1.00 sent to the account). Payroll and gt; Settings and gt; Bank Account and gt; if unverified: check your bank statement for two small deposits from Wave and gt; enter the exact amounts in Wave to complete verification. Payroll cannot process until verification is complete.

METHOD 3Issue Manual Checks While ResolvingEmployees need payment immediately
1

If direct deposit fails and employees need payment: Payroll and gt; Payroll History and gt; find the failed payroll and gt; mark as paid by check and gt; issue manual checks to employees for the net pay amounts. Record the manual payment in Wave to keep payroll records accurate. Resolve the underlying issue before running the next payroll cycle.
